Michelle Cota serves as Counsel at MarketCounsel and is an Associate of the Hamburger Law Firm, an affiliated boutique law firm providing the securities industry with unparalleled legal counsel.  At MarketCounsel, she is primarily responsible for providing assistance to RIA Incubator clients and members of the RIA Institute of Compliance Management.  At the Hamburger Law Firm, her current work concentrates in the areas of the regulation and compliance of investment advisers and broker-dealers.

Previously, Ms. Cota worked as a research analyst for the Securities Arbitration Commentator. For several years thereafter, Michelle served as a paralegal for the Public Equity and Fixed Income units of Prudential Investments where she focused on issues specific to investment advisers.

Michelle is admitted to the bar in the State of New Jersey.

Michelle earned her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Connecticut. She earned her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall School of Law, graduating with honors.

Michelle lives in northern New Jersey.
