John Karns is a lead technology partner for
MailBanc, a service division of
MarketCounsel, LLC.
John Karns spent over a decade in the financial services
industry. While at Smith Barney, in New York City, John was first an
institutional analyst; then he a co-managed both a small capitalization growth
fund ($750M) and a large capitalization variable annuity product ($300M). In
1998 John moved to Denver, Colorado to join Denver Investment Advisors as a
Portfolio Manager. In 2001 he became a partner. During his tenure at Denver
Investment Advisors John managed the Westcore Small Cap Growth mutual fund. John
left in 2003 to join Agger Capital, a hedge fund located in Englewood.
From 1986 through 1990 he managed computing and data center operations, first
for Thomson McKinnon, LLC, a private investment bank, which subsequently sold
its data operations in 1989; then for ADP's BIS Group, which was the acquirer.
John is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Institute.
He earned his MBA in Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business
and his Bachelor's degrees in both Computer Science and Economics from Iowa
State University.
