Alan N. Walter brings over 25 years experience in commercial and business law,
serving as the Associate Director of the Corporate Practice Group at MarketCounsel and leading the corporate practice of the
Hamburger Law Firm, an affiliated
boutique law firm providing the securities industry with unparalleled legal
counsel. His work is concentrated in the areas of company establishment
and governance, including entity formation, organization and structuring;
operating, shareholders and other business agreements; capital structuring;
business combinations, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions; succession
planning and transition strategies; financing; real property; and general
corporate matters.
After starting his legal career as a litigator for the New York State Attorney
General, Alan went on to work as an attorney, internal auditor and businessman
at the headquarters of a publicly traded multi-national Fortune 400 company.
Following that post, he served in the real estate and corporate law departments
of Stryker, Tams & Dill, one of New Jersey’s oldest law firms, and in the real
estate department of the New York City firm which is now part of Bryan Cave, one
the nation’s largest law firms. Alan has also served as the first general
counsel of a well-known multi-state mortgage banker and as the president of a
title insurance agency.
Alan earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, concentrating in
mathematics and philosophy, and graduating cum laude. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law.
Alan lives with his wife, Terri, and his daughter, Arielle, in northern New
Jersey, 12 miles west of New York City. His older daughter, Shoshana, is a
senior at Mount Holyoke College and a burgeoning journalist.
